A PIECE AND IT’S ADAPTATIONS
Here is you playing list for today. We invite you begin by listening the most (apparently) simple piece in the world. – BACH’s Prelude number 1, in C major.
BACH ( Johan Sebastian Bach) is what we usually call the father of classical music.
Further down we will give you some highlights on him and about this piece, so that you can fully understand what this (apparently) strange words really mean- Prelude? C Major?
For now, just close your eyes and let it flow.
The piece is so popular and apparently easy to play, that other composers used it with some adaptation.
For curiosity, later in the 19th century, a french composer called Charles Gnoud used it as a background for a AVE MARIA- Try to listen to it. It works pretty well!…
Even jazz players decided to work with it.
It’s played by a famous jazz pianist, Jacques Loussier – that adapted with great success famous classical music pieces. See how it sounds:
And on a even more surprising version, you can listen the Charles Gnoud’s Ave Maria sung my famous american singer Barbara Streisand. Here the original PRELUDE from Bach appears much more diluted as less clear, but it was this piece that was the basis for the song Streisand sings. Enjoy!
